There are so many intriguing aspects of this specimen of zunyite. First, the location it was discovered is the Electric Meatball boulder, in the Dome Rock Mountains of La Paz County, Arizona.
Second, the pocket containing the zunyite was discovered nearly 40 years ago by rockhounds hiking across a nearby farm field, according to the specimen description posted at The Arkenstone site.
Specimens of this quality with pseudo-pyramidal crystals inhabiting the surface of a foliated ‘talc’ quartz matrix are uncommon. It measures 9.8 x 6.6 x 3.6 centimeters.
